A Broken Silence was founded by John Chmielewsk.  Chmielewsk was already known in the Australian hip hop scene as part of the duo Hyjak N Torcha before A Broken Silence. The duo toured extensively in Australia, supporting De La Soul, Xzibit, Mobb Deep, Lord Finesse and Hilltop Hoods among others. The quintet A Broken Silence started in 2006. 
Their debut album “All For What” released the band in 2009. The album was the Australian singer Tim Freedman Australian rock band The Whitlams involved.  Also involved was Ozi Batla (Shannon Kennedy) of the Australian hip hop band The Herd.
After signing with Wideawake Entertainment Group, her second album “A Broken Silence” was released on March 13, 2012. Guitarist Cactus was involved as a singer on the album.  In July 2012, the band was a guest at The Jimmy Star Show.  On 1 October 2015, the band posted on their Facebook page a picture of a new cover.  Two weeks later she was there also announced that they are in the studio and finish the work on the third album.  On October 23, 2015, the band called fans to sing a line of text in their native language. As a thank you, the name will be printed on the album. In November 2015, the band launched a campaign to fund their next album on the crowdfunding platform Indiegogo, as they do not believe in the industry in this project. The proceeds of the album should benefit the needy. The campaign ended on 19 January 2016. The target of 21,000 AUD was missed with 905 AUD. The band’s total cost of the album is AUD $ 49,000. In 2017, the singles “Boom”, “So we March to the Stars,” “Build it Up” and “In the Beginning” were published.
