Growing up I loved music, and I was lucky enough to live in a house that also loved music. I’m half Burmese and always lovingly embraced the culture surrounding my dad’s family, and as such it has become a large part of my identity. I learned the bass and guitar and performed with local bands composed of friends playing whatever music we wanted. When I was about 14 I fell in love with writing songs and began coming up with stupid lyrics that I would rap over generic beats from YouTube, but I never took myself seriously until I decided to start making music from scratch. I had written in bands before but trying to piece everything together myself was an entirely new world. I worked hard on trying to get my skills to a point where I was making music I wasn’t embarrassed to release, culminating in Leonardo, my first project as Anarchist Finch.
