Australia’s unique purveyors of “dancehall and dub rhythms, drum n bass aggression, cinematic soundscapes, hip-hop attitude and rock n roll live action”, the Hive have had to undergo a name change due to the success of a Swedish rock outfit with a similar name. The Hives from Sweden are currently having chart success in Europe, a detination the Australian group The Hive are about to embark. The group consisting of Tones, Lok and Will have chosen Baggsmen as their new name and will be launching their new title at Sydney’s basement on July 5.

Baggsmen are about to launch their track ‘Ballad Of London’ into the European market featuring on LTJ Bukem’s label The Good Looking Organisation, whilst it also looks likely that world renowned breakbeat label Finger Lickin’ will pick up their next release. Lookout for an August/September national tour for Baggsmen as they promote their new EP and familiarise the public with their new name.


he Baggsmen are an Australian Hip Hop trio (formerly known as the Hive) consisting of Lachlan Brahe, Tony Buchen, William Frasier. They changed their name in 2003 for their third full-length album ‘Eleven Stages’. In this album the band incorporates an assorted array of Australian artists such as MCs Rudy Jackson and Big Buxx, Jake Stone, Lords of the Fly, Sydney vocalist Lior and “Vietnamese chanteuse” An (Brahe’s wife, apparently).

The band’s music has been describted as “dancehall and dub rhythms, drum n bass aggression, cinematic soundscapes, hip-hop attitude and rock n roll live action”.
