Since joining the ranks of Ill-Legitimate in 2008, an international hip hop collective based in Vancouver, and releasing his first album Entrenched in Canada, Jack Bain – AKA Butta (or P-Butta) – has stayed active both locally and abroad. After releasing Entrenched, he worked with DeadBeatSociety – a Brisbane group with a killer stage-show that opened for the likes of Jedi Mind Tricks, Raekwon and Ill-Bill. DeadBeatSociety only released one self-titled album in 2009 before the group split to work on their solo careers, but they made a large impact on the Brisbane scene in the process.
In 2010, Butta released his second solo album Gotta Tic featuring mostly Vancouver emcees and producers, as well as a couple of self-produced tracks. In 2013, he returned to Vancouver to join the rest of Ill-Legitimate for the release of their debut album, ILL-Legitimate: The Album. They toured around British Columbia extensively with their high-energy performances, finishing on stage afront a full-house in Vancouver – opening for Souls of Mischief.
From this time, Butta has been building a fresh catalogue of music and number of music videos, which nearly ready for release: ILL-LEGITIMATE is ready to drop Stitched – their latest album, which is full of heaters and backed by some dope vids! Next year – 2019 – will be BIG: releasing 3 albums – Butta will be working with producer Nicky Scarfo on ILL-Kents, before rolling out two more joints, one with Brisbane producer DJ Daze, and another with UK produce Hashfinger and Brisbane emcee Synergy… So… A lot of new music, mad videos and live shows to come… stay tuned
