SO.Crates is and ongoing collaboration of Melbourne producer Skomes and rapper Cazeaux O.S.L.O. Having played countles gigs around the city for over a year, they are about to release their first joint body of work.
SO.Crates is comprised of Melbourne born and raised producer SKOMES, and MC Cazeaux O.S.L.O, a California born Australian resident. Since 2015 the pair have played extensively throughout Melbourne, supporting the likes of Stones Throw Records, Black Milk, Rapper Big Pooh, Brother Ali, 30/70, Average Rap Band, Mndsgn and more, including a recent set at Strawberry Fields. Their sound is a culmination of their shared love of jazz, soul and hiphop in the vein of groups such as De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, and the late 90s/early 2000s Rawkus era. After solidifying their place as one of Australia’s premier live Hiphop acts, the pair self released the modern classic cassette tape ‘Static Methods EP’ in May 2016, which was chosen by the PBS FM show “Fresh Produce” as one of their top 5 hip hop releases of 2016. Having sold out of physical copies, SO.Crates are currently gearing up for the release of a double vinyl edition of ‘Static Methods’, in partnership with the Foreign Brothers. This re-release will include a bonus remix disc featuring some of their favourite Melbourne based live bands reworking songs from the EP. 2017 will also see the release of a SO. Crates full length LP and an instrumental beat tape.
Skomes is a Melbourne based producer and one half of SO.crates, a joint projec with rapper Caseaux O.S.L.O.
Skome’s production style range from classic boom bap to lo-fi and anything in between and beyond.
